Successful business people effectively create their schedules. To optimize your revenue and increase your clientele base, you’re going to need the best time allocation skills in order to run an exceptional business. As part of my personal development series, I’ve gathered three of the most important tips that’ll help you focus on achieving maximum results – without the major stress of jam-packed schedule.

Perhaps the most important tool for effective time management is knowing how to prioritize! So many personal trainers waste much of their time working on things that don’t bear fruit for their fitness business, but you can save yourself that added stress by getting clear on your priorities. For instance, do you spend a serious piece of time cleaning your equipment, or sorting out paperwork? If so, then you’re wasting your time! Think about it this way: could you see a CEO of a major company cleaning office windows or filing bills? Of course not. As a entrepreneur, concentrate on things that’ll capitalize profits and clientèle satisfaction, such as promoting health products or keeping your website up to date. If it’s a job you can hire someone else to do in order to free up more of your time to work on tasks that will bring in more income, then do so.

Once you prioritize your tasks, you’re going to have some large projects that will seem absolutely impossible to manage. You don’t need the stress of wrestling with a huge monster of a project, so instead look at it from the perspective of several smaller tasks that all add up to the same goal. If you attack a large task as is, you’re more likely to procrastinate – and that can be the kiss of death to many small business owners. When you separate a big idea into more easily accomplished tasks, you’ll have a lot more motivation and ability to get it done.

A good way to keep track of all your activities is to keep a log of your work. Like any food plan you’ve designed, the key to success often means just keeping track of where all your time is spent and what tasks take up the most of your schedule. If you stick to it, you’ll be surprised how effective – and simple – keeping an activity log can be.
