Every day we’re forced to make choices. Success lies in store for people who have the ability to make quick and wise selections; while failure and angst falls to those whose lives are plagued by indecision. This is probably the most crippling of all the acquired vices, a bad habit which is nowadays a major cause of anxiety, distress and under achievement. Doctors see a spreading of this malaise, a plague exemplified by the apocryphal tale of the patient who went to his GP for a repeat prescription for tranquillizers. He was suffering from the stressful nature of his job as a greengrocer’s assistant, where he spent a large part of his time working out which of the oranges should be priced as small and which as large. ‘It’s non-stop decisions, decisions, decisions’, he explained.
Use your imagination
Your brain is an amazing organ, and using it to see yourself in a different light is one of the tools that you can use to move in a positive direction. Imagining yourself in a better situation is a trick you can play on your mind. It is one of the most widely used techniques in sports psychology during the training of competitive athletes.
The converse is also used by behaviorist psychologists. That is to see yourself in a situation where you don’t accomplish your desired objective. You imagine yourself in a very painful place in life and the fear of that imagination is supposed to make you want to take the steps necessary to avoid failure.
The only way to banish fears, doubts and crippling indecision is to take a firm step forward. If you come to a crossroads in life, and can’t decide which way to turn, it’s better to toss a coin to decide which route to take than stand transfixed on the spot. As Shakespeare warned: ‘Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.’
Write is down
Write down your plan and review it daily. Start your day by reviewing your written objectives. While a detailed plan of attack with benchmarks and action steps is even better, don’t overwhelm yourself when you start. It will just discourage you and put you back in your comfort zone of doing nothing. Start by just writing down your major objective and review it daily.
Keeping your written goals in front of your eyes is actually a biblical principal for success. In the Bible the Israelites were told to keep the Word of God in front of them at all times to remind them of God’s faithfulness. This works for other areas of life, as well as the spiritual area.
Your subconscious mind will go through the same experience whenever you take on a task, giving you focus and a desire to complete the task.
This is because your mind becomes concentrated on the task at hand, subconsciously searching for solutions. So actually getting up and doing it, may be all it takes to get something done. you can be published without charge. You can to republish this article in your website or blog. A Channeling from The Archangel Gabriel
I am the Archangel Gabriel of the Word of God.
Just as there are man’s laws made in our society, so there are Universal laws. These are laws made by God. Universal laws were put into place to assist us in manifesting what we desire. Spiritual law, however, changes with the times and with the spiritual evolvement of the human species.
On earth man made laws change constantly with the changes of government, totalitarian regime or politician. Universal law is immutable. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Think in terms of lack and lack is what you get back. Universal law, the way the universe works…does not change.
In the domain of the spirit, each generation is given a new spiritual law to suit the energy that generation creates. Spiritual laws are different from Universal Laws. For instance, the law of the old testament as it is known, is not suitable for this day and age for humanity has changed so much since that time. This was the Good News which Jeshua ben Joseph (Jesus) brought to humanity.
As humanity undergoes a metamorphosis, so does the law. The Creator God is constantly renewing him/herself. God has an awareness of what you are doing and why you are doing it. You cannot lie to or fool God. With this in mind, God constantly updates the law so that each generation will have a guide appropriate for the times and level of spiritual evolvement. It is for this reason that there are so many differences in the law over the Earth years. Occasionally, there will be more than one change in a century because humanity changes so much.
Modern Self-Help Techniques
Many of the so-called self improvement techniques and books available on the market these days unfortunately still advocate a niche approach. Let’s face it, professionals enjoy showing off their talent by being specialists / experts in their field. This is quite easy to do when the field is small and limited.
Such pigeonholed specialists actually end up providing a disservice to their clients and readers. This is because of the endless chain of cause and effect that permeates the human thinking process. Band-Aid therapy for hemorrhage results in lots of leaks. Best to get a fresh flow of energy and flush out the system.
The laws of this time are different to other laws because the Divine Being, God, can see that until humanity can understand ones higher self, one can never be at peace. It is the time for humanity to take responsibility for their own lives and leave others to live theirs. The spiritual laws I bring from this beautiful energy are not connected to ‘thou shalt not’. That was the teaching of the past, or the interpretation of that teaching. It restricted humanity, and stopped its growth. The new law or teaching is designed to speak to each man’s soul.
It is a fact and common knowledge now in modern time that, as a man thinkth, so is he. So I ask you, where are your thoughts taking you today and into tomorrow?
According to a Marketdata Enterprises market report, the U.S. self-improvement market is worth $9.6 Billion. It’s a huge business and it attracts a lot of attention. Yet, for all its importance, most people fail to understand what it’s all about.
A lot of people who are attracted to the art and science of self-improvement are motivated by the lure of money. They want to know better and more expedient ways of climbing the ladder of financial success. It’s no accident that the bible of the self-improvement world is called, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
Whenever we meet a new person, the first thought that comes to our mind is – whether he/she is good or bad, likeable or not; whether we can benefit with his/her association or not; whether he/she can serve our worldly interests or not. That is to say, we have a reflexive attitude to assess a person’s worth based on his/her ability to serve our interests. Our minds seem to be programmed for observing people with a view to picking out their faults and shortcomings.
But, do we ever observe ourselves in the same manner – to find out our faults, shortcomings and flaws in our own behaviour and character? We spend most of our lives in focussing our minds (Chitta) on observing, appraising and assessing others, but do we ever undertake the same exercise for ourselves once in a while? Probably not and very rarely, if at all.
The science of making money is not all that complex. It could be summed up in a few sentences: 1) Be obsessed with money. 2) Keep on trying to find new ways of making money. 3) Work very hard and save. Anything added to that is superfluous. Nothing else is needed.
On the other hand, real self-improvement is a life-long process. It’s not about learning new tricks on how to influence people. It’s about understanding why we do what we do, about fundamental personality change and about character building.
The title says it all, self-improvement. It’s about improving who we are as humans. It’s about learning that our past does not equate our future. It’s about coming to grip with the fact that it is possible to change and finding out how those changes can be affected.
Meditation is the only way to undertake this inward journey. When we meditate, we shut off our outer senses and our Chitta starts its journey inside – in the realm of Atman. The Atman is the sole guiding light for our lives. Unless we awaken and empower it, no improvement in our lives is possible. Empowerment of the Atman can only be achieved through meditation. Frequently I help clients to learn about four different ways of approaching life and how each of these either helps the individual or slows their progress. Following are summaries of each of these.
The mother looked at her daughter with curiosity and asked, “Why did you put that roast in two small pots instead of cooking it in just one large one?”
The daughter looked at her mother with surprise and said, “That's the way you always cooked roasts when I was a child.”
The mother threw her head back in laughter and said, “Oh. I just did that because we were so poor that those two small pots were all that I had.”
The daughter was following her mother's practice without ever knowing why.
It reminds me of the way my mother rolled out dough with an empty beer bottle because she didn't own a rolling pin. Wouldn't it be silly for me to follow my mother's habit when there's no longer a need.
To me the word sorry becomes meaningless, it used too much by the same person. When this becomes a problem with me, I often make a suggestion to the other person, to quit using the word sorry and start showing me some effort, by changing their life. Changing the way they do things would eliminate the need to say you're sorry, constantly.
3. PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE – Some people are insecure but hate conflict so much that they harm others in indirect ways rather than confronting or communicating with them. Resentment and other negative emotions combined with “sneaky” behaviours are used to get even with others who may not even know that the person is upset with them. For example, a person who is passive-aggressive may gossip about others, make promises that they don't fulfill to hurt the other person or use indirect actions to disgrace the other person. I often use the example of a cook who doesn't like the customer and instead of dealing with the differences between them, just spits in the customer's soup!
4. ASSERTIVE – People who are aware of their needs and know how to ensure they are met in a healthy manner, show respect for themselves and others while dealing with issues. They speak firmly but politely while staying focussed on resolving problems. Preservation of self-esteem for themselves and others is a result of using assertive techniques that include honest communication.
If you are unhappy and feel that some or all of your relationships are in trouble, perhaps learning more about assertiveness will help you. Remember, in order to live a happy and assertive life, you need to know your needs and be able to ask in a healthy manner for them to be met.
Try learning about and using assertiveness. I'm sure you will be glad that you did
