Jim knew that the fire bell would be sounding soon just by the look of the smoke. The problem was that the smoke was getting really thick around the house and he knew that it was just a matter of time before someone called the fire department that he was a member of. The problem was that it was not his house, but the neighbors house that was on fire.
As Jim was waiting for the tones to drop he moved his wife’s pair of pearl izumi shorts. After he moved them out of his way he seen his uniform pants and put them on knowing that they would help keep him from getting burned by the rising flames.
As he was getting ready to head out of the house the tones were starting to go off for a garage fire. He heard that the complainant was the property owner and he was thankful for that because he knew that his neighbor was safe. However, depending on the part of the garage it could damage the very valuable diamondback bikes that were in their. He just worried that they would get to the fire before it reached them and could cause any damage to them.
He hopped onto his mongoose mountain bike and pedaled as fast as he could. The station was a little over a mile down the road, but it would still take him about two to three minutes to reach it. Once he reached it though he knew that it was going to be a slim crew today because the engine was not even started yet.
When he reached the station he thankfully seen the first trucks door going up and he ducked into it. As he headed towards the door of the engine he knew that it would need to warm up for a few minutes. He turned the key and heard the Detroit Diesel roar to life and knew they would be rocking in just a minute.
They started talking about who would drive, but then they noticed the address and decided that Jim could have the nozzle since he knew the house. Thankfully he had been in the garage only the day before so he know not a whole lot would change over night.
Jim took the nozzle out of the forward blitz line and crawled into the smoke filled atmosphere. He looked around and seen that most of the fire was in the corner. He quickly blasted that little bit of flame and then headed back to the entry way. After the flames were out Jim walked over and his neighbor thanked them for the job they did, because it if had went much further it would have hit the bikes.
