As heavily as we come down on beauty today we all strive hard enough to be part of the beautiful people. It’s Okay to want to look your best and to be part of the world that you resent. Why? You resent it mostly because it’s not something that you’re a part of. You would accept it if you felt you had a ticket in there.
Hollywood isn’t a real town. It is a town of face skin care that costs thousands and it is a town where night cream is purchased by the vat in secret. It is a town where celebrity fitness experts present fat loss solution ideas to 110 pound waifs for a mere $10, 000 per session. Is this really what you’re after?
Probably not. You probably realize on some level that sand in your shoes from playing on the beach or that nasty wet dog smell on your clothes from volunteering at the shelter are very beautiful. You just want to have that smell and the same high cheekbones and perfectly grubby clothes as you’ve seen on TV.
We don’t have to look like a million bucks all the time. Sure, we all have things we want to change about ourselves, as do supermodels. Supermodels are just as insecure about their bodies and their imperfections as we are about ours. They just don’t show it because it’s part of the job not to.
Beauty can be captured in a moment if you just allow who you are to shine through. Those times when you are at your most beautiful, you’ve felt it. And what were you doing? I’ll give odds nine to one that you were laughing. You were completely caught up in the moment and you weren’t critical of yourself for about five beautiful seconds.
Stop comparing yourself to every other woman on the beach. You know that game. You look at her and decide your tummy looks better but her skin is better. You look at that woman and decide that you have better legs but she has better hair. Get over it.
You are allowed to be beautiful without being perfect and your are allowed to be perfect just as you are. You can stop judging yourself so harshly and start going for more of those moments where you forget everything and just simply feel beautiful. That is the joy of being a woman.
